A really cracking good tool - Widnes Skip & Reclaim Ltd
Widnes Skip & Reclaim, has just purchased its fourth Dig A Crusher unit. The new 1200 joins three existing Dig A Crusher 900 units.
The company’s recycling centre processes more than 1,500 tonne of commercial, industrial and domestic waste each week, of which around 80 – 90 percent is recycled, supplying top soil and crushed brick hard core back to local customers.
“Despite the fact that we’re in the waste business, less than 15 percent of all materials received at our recycling facility find their way to landfill,” says transport manager Don Bradfield. “Construction and demolition waste makes up a large part of our waste inputs and we needed something that could process it quickly and effectively. Dedicated mobile crushers are fine but they’re very expensive to buy and to run and they also require a loading machine and a separate rehandling machine. With the Dig A Crusher, we can handle everything with just a single machine. The Dig A Crusher just eats everything we throw at it. Even steel reinforcing bar doesn’t slow it down. Best of all, jams are a thing of the past. On the rare occasions we get a blockage, we simply turn the bucket upside-down and the materials just fall out.. The new 1200 is an even more amazing tool. It eats everything, including concrete telegraph poles. We have no worries about what we put through it, it will crush anything we can put in it including concrete and rebar. Brick rubble is so easy, it doesn’t even slow it down,” he concludes. It really is a cracking good tool.”
